I am a huge advocate of independent businesses and recently I stumbled across Interiors and design brand Hunters Bohemia. The brand is fairly new but has already proven extremely popular with many items selling out, some in their first day!
The handcrafted collection has been designed with the Danish concept in mind of less is more. Owner Katty, a self taught textile designer and woodworker has poured her love of interiors and her obsession with details and styling into these items, which is clearly evident. The collection mixes heart and soul with a bohemian edge to create items that will be treasured for years to come.
Everything about Hunters Bohemia evokes a personal touch. Katty believes that when you purchase anything, even if it is for yourself, it should feel like a gift. Each item is wrapped exactly how you would expect to receive a wonderful treat with all elements designed and thought through to the finest detail. All products are sent out wrapped in their custom galaxy tissue paper which is secured with a metallic gold seal, it’s little extra details such as this that sets apart an independent label.
So then, whats in this collection that has got me swooning so much?
Well to start with, the beautiful hardwood boards (there are 5 different styles in the collection) are cut from olive wood and I will definitely be adding one to my wish list! Each board has been hand shaped and sanded to produce an outstanding unique product which features wonderful knots, grains and waney edges. It must be noted that once these boards are sold they will never be replaced with an identical product!
These would make a great purchase for your own kitchen or as a gift for someone special and ranging between £30 to £50 they are a unique and affordable option!
The brand have also produced a wonderfully unique selection of block printed textiles which range from napkins and teatowels to cushions. Prices start at £20 for the napkins or teatowels and cushions are priced at £50.
The fabric is all hand printed by Katty in her studio in Belfast with beautiful results. As each piece of fabric must go through a lengthy curing process, these products are currently made to order although this is due to change with a view to Hunters Bohemia stock piling, so products can be dispatched much faster.
I absolutely love the prints and was impressed that only premium materials are used: laundered European linen, lovely soft imitation leather and trademark brass zips on the cushions. So much effort has been put into the tiniest detail and it shows! The cushions also have plump duck down inners which I think always adds an extra special luxurious look and feel to a cushion cover.
I think the prints are a wonderful way to incorporate beautiful design into an interior, those napkins will be a wonderful addition to the dining table, excellent for entertaining guests or even just for using with your weekday evening meal!
It is also no secret of how much I love stationery, I can’t go into any store that stocks it without having a browse. I really love the collection of postcards designed and hand-painted using watercolour, acrylic and metallic gold ink. I think they would be a lovely thing to receive in the post from a friend writing to say hello or even as a collection of framed artwork. Stationary sets come in sets of four postcards and can be purchased for £15.
Many of these items are on a pre order basis with limited releases (usually announced through the site or social media) which actually adds to the exclusivity of this wonderful collection!
There are other items on the website and it’s definitely worth a browse even more of a bonus is the company ships worldwide so it doesn’t matter where you are located! Katty will also happily work with you on custom orders too so if you see something you like but want a little extra adding then contact them directly for a chat.
